PAY RANGE:

$14.50 - $15.00 Hourly

POSITION SUMMARY:

Assists Preschool Teacher in working with children enrolled in a YMCA Preschool and/or Early Childhood Program. Assists in planning and leading age and developmentally appropriate early learning experiences in a classroom setting, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for children ages 2 to 4 years of age. Reports directly to the Preschool Teacher or Program Director as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills/Knowledge:

• Assists in preparing lesson plans
• Sets up, plan and implement activities that teach gross motor skill and age appropriate concepts  as assigned
• Plans and prepares snacks that meet state/federal nutrition and HEPA guidelines
• Tends to diapering and toilet needs of children
• Ensures all safety and health/sanitation procedures are followed, including bathroom supervision

Education/Training:

• High school vocational child care training course or orientation training course in the center (according to Department of Human Services Licensing Requirements)
• Minimum age of 16 years

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

• TB Clearance required
• High School diploma or GED Verification of higher education training/coursework/degree/certification preferred
• Must meet all criminal history, employment history and/or child abuse/neglect history standards as required by the Department of Human Services Licensing Requirements
• First Aid and CPR Certification
• General office operations experience preferred
• Valid driver’s license and clean traffic abstract preferred
