Healthy Lifestyles Coach
PAY RANGE:
$18 - $21 Hourly
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Healthy Living Coach plays a key role in creating a welcoming and supportive environment that promotes health and wellness for all. Coaches guide members in achieving their personal fitness goals, while also ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and vibrancy of the facility. The role supports the YMCA’s mission by fostering healthy living through engagement, education, and encouragement, all in alignment with our core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and diversity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES:
Member Engagement & Support
- Deliver outstanding customer service to members, participants, and guests. Help members achieve their goals, build relationships, and feel a sense of belonging at the Y.
- Lead fitness floor orientations and equipment instruction for safe and effective use.
- Provide encouragement and guidance in workout areas, including spotting and coaching.
- Actively build relationships with members, creating a positive and inclusive experience.
- Be cross-trained on essential functions of the Member Services Representative position including the ability to greet/check-in members and give cause-driven tours.
Facility Oversight & Safety
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment across fitness areas, group exercise studios, and common areas.
- Monitor and enforce facility rules in a professional, respectful manner.
- Report maintenance issues or hazards promptly and assist with ongoing equipment preventative maintenance and upkeep as needed.
- Perform daily cleaning duties and maintain hygiene supplies.
Health Promotion & Education
- Provide basic health and wellness information and refer to appropriate resources.
- Support program communications and promote healthy living events and offerings.
- May assist in implementing specialized wellness programs or workshops (Level 4).
Emergency Preparedness
- Respond to emergencies with appropriate CPR/First Aid procedures.
- Complete incident reports accurately and within required timeframes.
YMCA Mission & Compliance
- Adhere to YMCA policies, including Child Abuse Prevention and risk management standards.
- Attend required trainings and stay current with certifications.
- Demonstrate YMCA values through daily interactions and behavior.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- TB clearance required
Skills & Knowledge:
- Ability to multitask, work independently, and adapt to diverse situations.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- First Aid, CPR, AED certification obtained within 3 months of hire
- Completion of various YMCA trainings within the allotted time frame after hire
